News hit last month that Boston would no longer bid on being the location for the 2024 Olympic Games, and rumors hit that Los Angeles may step in to represent for the United States.
And now it appears we are one step closer to making that bid.
According to the Associated Press “the City Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a proposal to authorize Mayor Eric Garcetti to execute agreements related to its 2024 bid, which outlines over $6 billion in public and private spending. If approved, the U.S. Olympic Committee is expected to announce that Los Angeles is its nominee, joining Rome, Paris, Hamburg, Germany, and Budapest, Hungary, in pursuit of the 2024 Games.”
If chosen, it would be the third time Los Angeles hosted the event, previously being home to the Olympics in 1932 and again in 1984.
